MIMURO ISSHIN 三室 一心
Zen in motion, mindfulness in martial arts
Istvan Koloh (三室 イステバン)
3rd Dan Aikikai
Student of Atsushi Mimuro Shihan
Istvan Koloh is a Hungarian-British Aikido practitioner whose journey reflects deep dedication to budō and the pursuit of harmony. Since beginning his training in 2013, he has walked with sincerity and discipline, earning the rank of 3rd Dan Aikikai. His way is now a path of learning rather than teaching — a quiet continuation of practice guided by devotion and reflection.
Koloh began his study under Karesz Hoffer Sensei in London, whose clear and structured approach shaped his foundation. His direction deepened under Atsushi Mimuro Shihan, 7th Dan Aikikai — direct disciple of Seigo Yamaguchi Shihan — whose subtle and fluid expression of Aikido continues to inspire his training. Regular journeys to Japan to study under Mimuro Shihan have become personal pilgrimages, reconnecting body, breath, and heart to the living essence of Yamaguchi-style Aikido.
Though his dojo, Yokohama International Aikido Devon, has now closed, his practice continues under The Way of Harmony — a path uniting Aikido and Zazen with the newly begun disciplines of Nippon no Yumi (the Japanese bow) and Kashima no Ken (the sword of Kashima).
The name Mimuro Isshin (三室 一心) — meaning “One Heart of Mimuro” — was chosen by Istvan to express his deep devotion and gratitude to Atsushi Mimuro Shihan, whose teachings continue to guide his path. It represents the unity of heart, body, and spirit in the practice of Aikido, and the wish to carry forward his teacher’s spirit with sincerity and respect.
This website is respectfully dedicated to Mimuro Shihan and the Yokohama International Aikido Club in Yokohama, Japan — honoring the lineage, teachings, and timeless spirit that illuminate the Way of Harmony.
